Bridge Over Blue

About the Founder

Actress, director, and screenwriter Bridie Latona grew up in a glass-panelled house without electricity in Australia's Nightcap Rainforest, the location that inspired Disney's "FernGully: The Last Rainforest," and spent much of her childhood rescuing distressed animals and nurturing them back to health.

At the age of nine, she helped save a neighbour's distressed birthing cow; as the adults handled the mother, Bridie realized it was up to her to welcome the newborn calf to the world and cradled him in her arms. When she heard the anguished cries of mother cows separated from their baby calves on the neighbouring dairy farm - feeling their grief as if it was her own - it solidified her lifelong mission to care for innocent animals.

Bridie went on to star in films and theatre productions in London, was awarded Best Actress at London's Rob Knox Film Festival and Warner Bros. New Filmmakers Awards, and wrote the screenplays to festival-awarded films "Bridge Over Blue" and "A Brunette Kiss." Moving to Los Angeles, she worked with noted directors including Quentin Tarantino and founded her film production company, Dreaming Tree Pictures, currently in post-production on "Edge of the Earth"starring Anthony Hayes ("The Rover," "War Machine").

Returning home during the pandemic to the seaside creative hub of Byron Bay, Bridie now divides her time betweenAustralia and Los Angeles, and is committed to using film to spread a positive message of love of nature, compassion for animals, and a return to softness.
